Out Of Body Experience

Have you ever just looked in the mirror and thought, "Who am I?"

Yes, I know this sounds like a very dramatic cliche, but I think I know what the person who first said it was feeling. It's like, what do people think when they see me or hear me talk? Do they think I'm weird or do they agree with what I'm saying? Also, can they tell what I really mean when I say things, or can they figure out what things I don't like? Can they tell that I'm a push-over just from one time talking to me? I know it's probably different for every person in my life. I don't think I really worry about this more than I should, but today I just thought about it more than I ever have before, or maybe I'm just weird. Probably a combination of all of these things. Oy.

People behind me at a devotional: Girl: "Oh, you're going to go bond with your guy friends today, right?" Guy: "It's our Guys Afternoon In--G.A.I. We call it 'gay'"
One of my professors' FB statuses (found during some FB researching): "One of those days when you just feel like moving to Australia..."
One man to another man in a suit walking on campus: "Hey, you look nice today." I wish that happened more often.

My social welfare textbook, chapter talking about how to reduce crime: "Avoid carrying large sums of money. If forced to do so, take along a second wallet containing three or four bills and some expired credit cards, which you can give a thief if confronted."
My social systems professor: "The founding fathers had no idea that the internet would be invented when they wrote the Constitution."
My sister, while handing me a note my dad left on the counter (talking about our Ford Focus) that says, 'Shae, the focus starts now': "He doesn't mean the car, Shae. He means in your head."
My roommate to me: "You look very 'hobo chick' today." I'm going to pretend she meant "boho chic."
